‘You probably don’t remember me…’: Server confronts entitled customer a year later for throwing a temper tantrum on her first day

It's hard to forgive the people who yell at you for no good reason. I'll never forget when a teacher wrongfully assumed I was the culprit for the misbehaving that was happening behind her back. Her decision to harshly reprimand me in front of the entire class has seared itself into my memory. It took me years before I felt comfortable enough speaking up to teachers after that, and I know others have felt the same.

These kinds of experiences go beyond your educational upbringing, of course. When you start your professional career, your idea of what is acceptable is learned by your manager's expectations as well as the culture of your first workplace. Depending on your experience, you can get the completely wrong impression of proper professionalism and workplace dynamics if you have a difficult boss or coworker. For this server, she never forgot the one entitled customer who made her first day on the job a total nightmare, but she had the unique opportunity to confront her a full year later.
